Online Barcode Scan is an independent collection of browser-based tools for reading, checking, generating, and organizing barcode data. The site does not operate a product database and does not assign official barcode numbers.
What the site provides
The tools cover several distinct tasks. A scanner decodes a visible symbol, a number checker validates supported lengths and check-digit mathematics, and a generator renders a symbol from data supplied by the user. These operations should not be treated as interchangeable.
Interpretation and QR review
Inspect decoded text and review supported QR actions before deciding whether to open an external destination.
Number validation
Check supported GTIN, UPC, EAN, ITF-14, and ISBN structures and compare supplied check digits with calculated values.
Barcode generation
Create browser-local PNG or SVG output for formats offered by the current generator manifest.
Batch organization
Collect scan rows locally, edit quantities and notes, and export a spreadsheet-compatible CSV file.

Browser-side tool processing
The current scanner, camera, validator, generator, history, and batch components run through client-side code. They do not use an image-upload endpoint, an account system, or server-side scan history. Local history and batch rows use browser storage when it is available.
This does not mean that visiting the website creates no network traffic. Normal page requests still pass through the hosting and security infrastructure, and confirmed external QR actions can contact another service after the user chooses to continue.
Built around explicit limits
The site documents supported file types, file-size limits, barcode manifests, local storage behavior, and format-specific validation rules. A failed scan remains a failed scan; the tools do not fabricate a value when the decoder finds nothing.
Browser compatibility, camera quality, image condition, print quality, symbology, and downstream system requirements can all affect whether a result is useful.
What the tools do not verify
A readable symbol, a mathematically valid check digit, or a successfully generated image does not prove any of the following:
- That a number was assigned, registered, licensed, or authorized.
- That a product, book, shipment, case, or record exists.
- That a company, seller, or brand owns or controls the identifier.
- That a destination, product, price, origin, safety claim, or item is authentic or trustworthy.
