This free online QR code scanner reads a QR code from an image or your device camera, right in the browser — there is nothing to download and no account to create. It decodes the QR value and then shows you the parsed content, so you can review a link, Wi-Fi network, contact, or message before you act on it. Because the work happens in browser-side code during normal scanning, the selected image is not sent to an upload endpoint.

How the QR scanner works

This page enables only the QR Code format in the shared decoder. It classifies the decoded content first and builds an action only when the fields and protocol pass validation.

  2. Decode only QR Code

    The image and camera engines receive the QR Code format filter instead of scanning for unrelated barcode types.

  3. Inspect parsed content

    Review the original value plus recognized URL, Wi-Fi, contact, email, telephone, SMS, or plain-text fields.

  4. Confirm an action

    Supported destinations are shown in a confirmation dialog before a new tab or device application is requested.

Recognized QR content

Recognition describes how the decoded text is presented. It does not prove that a destination, contact, network, sender, product, or message is trustworthy.

HTTP and HTTPS URLs

The hostname and normalized destination are displayed before an external tab can be opened.

Wi-Fi credentials

SSID, security type, hidden status, and an optionally revealed password are shown. No automatic network join is offered.

vCard and MECARD

Common contact fields can be separated for review. Unsafe URLs embedded in a contact are omitted.

Email, phone, and SMS

Validated recipients or numbers are used to reconstruct mailto, tel, or sms actions that still require confirmation.

Plain or unsupported text

Ordinary text stays copyable. Unsupported schemes are marked as blocked and do not receive an action button.

Executable, file, intent, FTP, malformed, control-character, and other unsupported schemes receive no external action. The parser also rejects content longer than 32,768 characters.

Image, camera, history, and privacy behavior

Image limits

The tool accepts one JPG, PNG, or WebP file up to 10 MB. Corrupt or unsupported images produce an error instead of a fabricated result.

Camera access

Camera scanning depends on a compatible browser, a secure context, an available camera, and permission granted for this site.

Local history

Detected QR values are added to the existing browser-local scan history. Storage may be unavailable or cleared by browser settings.

External actions

The selected image is not sent to an image-upload endpoint. A confirmed URL or application action can still communicate with its external destination.

Do I need to download a QR code scanner?

How do I scan a QR code from an image?

Can I scan a QR code with Google Lens?

Google Lens reads QR codes too, but if you are on a laptop or prefer a lightweight web tool, this online QR code scanner works in any modern browser without an app.

Why was my QR value shown as blocked?

The value used a scheme or field structure the action parser does not allow. You can still review and copy the raw decoded text, but the page will not offer an external action.

Why does the camera stop after a result?

The shared camera session pauses after detecting a symbol. On this page the QR result is moved into the parser panel so you can inspect it before scanning again.

Can the page join a Wi-Fi network automatically?

No. The page can display parsed Wi-Fi fields, but browser code does not receive an action for joining the network.

Does a safe protocol mean the destination is trustworthy?

No. HTTP, HTTPS, email, phone, and SMS destinations can still be misleading. Confirm the hostname, recipient, number, and message before continuing.
